Dear Friends of Hancock County,
Having just officially passed the date of one full month on the job as the Hancock County Economic Development Executive Director, I have to say it has been exciting! I have been so honored to have met and developed relationships, connections, and friendships with people from all walks of life in the HCED community. I look forward to continuing to strengthen these bonds in order to Grow Hancock County in positive ways by joining with each of you in inviting industry and small businesses alike to make our county their home.
By welcoming families to buy homes in our communities, attend our schools and churches and frequent our businesses, we will see the positive changes we seek. In addition, we must continue to make Hancock County a vacation and tourism mecca for tens of thousands of visitors from all over the world each year! Agriculture and tourism are our top two economic drivers in Hancock County and we must support, encourage and respect the people and cultures that make these possible.
I am very hopeful that by working together and taking positive steps towards the future, we will be able to all one day very soon see the Hancock County that we envision in our dreams: a community of economic prosperity, and excellence in all metrics of education, infrastructure, and leadership. The key to that, however, is maintaining positive goals and focus and continuing the traditions of Western Illinois excellence, which truly make the Hancock County, Illinois, area such a wonderful and unique place.
By utilizing our unique history, cultural landmarks, and our agricultural and transportation niches as building blocks, we can succeed at making the dream we all share of watching Hancock County thrive a reality. We as individuals and as communities have strengths and weaknesses. By working together we will minimize our weaknesses and, in turn, use the diversity of our strengths and uniqueness to reach our common goals.
I am grateful to each of your for entrusting me with HCED’s leadership role of enhancing the economic vitality in Hancock County.
